Automated management in work and employment

In this article Melinda Laundon, a Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Human-Robot Workforce Program) at the Australian Cobotics Centre explores the growing sophistication of artificial intelligence and its role in replacing human decision-making in work, management, and employment. Drawing on research, media sources, and legal cases, this Briefing Paper delves into the implications of this sweeping shift towards digital management. It highlights three key areas where digital management is already making a significant impact: recruitment and selection, task allocation, and productivity measurement. Additionally, it examines the types, capacities, and impacts of various automated technologies in these domains.
