Process definitions and documentation (including the definition of process KPIs) exist in many different states of completion, granularity and accuracy in many businesses. Often, documentation is either incomplete, contains errors, edge cases are not considered or the process definition differs markedly from lived reality in production (e.g. workers evolving their own “manner of doing things” which are never documented). In a collaborative robotics scenario, these effects may compound.
This Project seeks to develop tools to automate the development of collaborative robotics process automation specifications. This will be accomplished through: (a) the development of a process representation framework for the digital thread; and (b) the development of tools for the (semi-)automated development of process automation specifications. The Project will also look at building decision making tools to assign process tasks either human or robotic workers based on the process specification.
