Yuan Liu
- PhD Researcher
- QUT
Yuan is a PhD researcher in the Designing Socio-technical Robotic Systems research program and is based at QUT. The aim of this Program and its included projects is to embed holistic design as a critical factor in creating seamless integration of humans and machines working together to improve human work conditions and environments, and increase effectiveness and efficiencies in production, as well as workforce acceptance.
Prior to starting with the Australian Cobotics Centre, Yuan obtained a degree of MSc Interactive Media from University College Cork (Ireland) in 2022. During this study period, Yuan gained experience in the field of Multimedia Technologies and Human-Computer Interaction. Before that, she got a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning from Southwest University (China) and gained years of work experience in Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning.
Yuan’s current Research Interests will focus on Multimedia Technologies (Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality) and Human-Computer Interaction.
Thesis Title
Human-Centred Design with Augmented Reality for Human-Robot Collaboration
Start date: 1st May 2023
Expected end date:1st November 2026
This project explores how Augmented Reality (AR) can enhance human decision making in human-robot collaborative (HRC) tasks. In dynamic and complex manufacturing environments, human decision-making plays a crucial role in overall performance.
