- Queensland University of Technology
Start date: March 2026
Expected end date: September 2029
Jiayue is a PhD researcher at QUT based in the Human-Robot Interaction program. She holds an MSc from University College London, where she gained experience in human-computer interaction, virtual reality, and interface design. Her earlier studies and project experience in robotics and embedded systems helped shape her interest in how humans interact with intelligent machines.
Building on this background, Jiayue’s current PhD research explores the use of language as an interaction modality in collaborative human-robot teams. She is particularly interested in investigating how robots can communicate their state, perception, and reasoning through dialogue or chat-based interfaces.
Ultimately, her work aims to enhance Dynamic Situation Awareness and Human-AI Communication, ensuring that interactive technologies support more transparent, effective, and human-centred collaboration in complex work environments.
She is based at the QUT Centre for Robotics and her project is in collaboration with CSIRO.
