Professor Mats Isaksson is a roboticist focused on industrial robotics. After hisĀ MSc at Lund University, Sweden, he worked for ten years in the Motion Control department at ABB Robotics in Sweden. After relocating to Australia, he completed a PhD in robotics at Deakin University in 2013. Since then, he has worked for three years at the Centre For Intelligent Systems Research at Deakin University and one year at Colorado State University before starting at Swinburne in 2016. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Product Design Engineering.
He is the Director of the Intelligent Robotics Lab which he founded in 2021, and the leader of the Intelligent Robotics Program under the Manufacturing Futures Platform. He is also the Swinburne leader in the Industrial Transformation Training Centre (ITTC) for Collaborative Robotics in Advanced Manufacturing (also known as the Australian Cobotics Centre).
