Rebecca Lowery is CEO of The Universal Shower Base Pty Ltd, trading as Universal Habitat, an Australian family-owned manufacturer based in Tooradin, Victoria. The business was founded by her father in 1992 and has spent more than three decades designing and manufacturing shower base and waste systems for Australian bathrooms.

 

Following a major factory fire in 2025, Rebecca has been leading the rebuild of the business and rethinking how its products and manufacturing systems could work. That includes moving toward greater automation, using recycled PET materials, reducing manufacturing waste, improving product longevity and exploring how materials might be recovered and kept in use for longer.

 

Rebecca is particularly interested in a simple question: if new technology allows us to manufacture more efficiently, should the goal always be to make more, or can we use that capability to meet human needs with less material, less waste and less environmental impact?
